Dinosaur hat for a small boy

Sometimes you cannot help but smile at something. Putting this hat on had this effect on me. I had fun making it, and I hope the intended owner has fun wearing it, too.  Please forgive the silly photos - I couldn't help myself.

Why does she always do that?
Using this pattern as a guide, I decided to have a go at making a dinosaur hat for a little boy who, well, loves dinosaurs, and is about to turn three. The pressure was off, as I was using fabric that had been sitting in a box for ages, and so I felt at liberty to experiment with it.

Let's get started...

Shortly after this picture, the first bit of unpicking was needed. Cause? Floppy spikes. Problem solved (sort of) by inserting some plastic mesh that had also been sitting in a box for ages. Very pleasing case in point to mention to husband next time he complains about me hoarding stuff. I knew it would come in handy one day.

Pondering whether it is possible this hat can fit two very different sized people.
Don't care. If the birthday boy doesn't like it, I'll keep it and wear it on the school run.
It'll be a good way of punishing my eldest on occasions when she is grumpy in the
run up to leaving the house on time.

  1. I love it! And you just HAVE to wear it on the school run, too!

  2. Ha ha - thank Helen. Sadly this one now belongs to a small boy - who loves it. But maybe I could make another two, and we could both wear them to school?!
